| Ground-Based Equipment - - MLS Portable Receiver |
The PMR (Portable Measurement Receiver) is intended to be used by all technical staff involved in MLS station manufacturing and testing, as specified by the AWOP document, at factory premises when tuning or commissioning, as well as for ground inspection when installing, commissioning and making periodic or long term tests. It may also be used for flight inspection, however SNEC recommends the use of an MIR (MLS inspection receiver). Because of its rugged construction, it can withstand frequent displacements, shocks, or drops, and can resist harsh environments (FAA-G-2100e). It meets all the technical requirements specified by the AWOP document, including the options as well as most American draft specifications. In spite of its high degree of sophistication and computing power, its software is easy to use and its design is ergonomic; it requires only RF connection and channel selection after the power has been switched on. It has an internal battery and charger which make it fully autonomous when used with its deployable mast. The PMR is equipped with an ARINC 429 interface which enables post-processing treatments on a remote PC computer. The PMR can be fully and automatically checked and calibrated with the help of an MCG (MLS calibration generator) prior to operation. It displays its sensitivity level and computes bias / RMS power measurement error plus CMN and PFE at low level. |
